This post is a little late because things have been crazy here. So, not only is it late, but it's going to be pretty brief, too. Firstly, speech therapy everyday has started. Monday-Friday Scooby-Doo has two hours of speech therapy a day, not including the hour travel time (round trip) we do to get him to and from there. Secondly, at the beginning of week one of our new schedule everyone got a really bad cold and pretty much stayed in bed. It was so bad Optimus Prime & Bumblebee were having a hard time talking because they were so congested. Scooby-Doo was so wiped out from it he pretty much spent the whole time half asleep on the couch watching Scooby-Doo movies. When week two rolled around a I breathed a sigh of relief that we were all over it only for it to crop up again here week three. So, as you can imagine NOTHING at all has been accomplished.
So, onto my (VERY) brief recap of the past two weeks...
Scooby-Doo has done nothing but alternate between being sick and going to speech therapy.
Optimus Prime & Bumblebee did their Pirate Concept Week (along with their Math, English, Spelling, & Logic) a week late. That's pretty much it. They loved their Pirate unit (more on that once I can find the time!), they finished up their subtraction Math workbook, we did quite a bit of reading comprehension for English, we covered some sight words in Spelling, and we finished up our word searches workbook in Logic. That was their week. For our one-on-one reading time I just read to them. I'm not sure if I'm going to count that or not... technically they were supposed to read to me... but they were so sick I didn't have the heart to make them do it...
Like I said, brief. Also, for a head's up don't expect the next Two Week Review to read any differently. These two weeks are shaping up to look exactly like the last two weeks...

Two Week Review: January 17 - 31
I love the final Two Week Review of a quarter. It always makes me feel so accomplished. Also, I can now forget about the old schedule that I was growing to hate and can move onto a new one that I'm (irrationally) convinced I will love!
So, these two weeks were the (hopefully) final stages of crazy from the past month. Things were still a bit chaotic, but it was mostly adjusting to speech therapy, adjusting our schoolwork schedule because of speech therapy, and catching up on housework because all the previous crazy left little time for it. Still, these two weeks were good.
Scooby-Doo is starting to SAY his colors & shapes when we work on them. Yay! Also, he now understands the concept of only coloring in the rectangles on the rectangle page, the circles on the circle page, etc. He's also picking up some of the letters we've been doing. We're still behind on the book goal, so I'll just carry it over to the new quarter. He still has zero interest in reading lately. Whatever. It shouldn't last much longer. Meanwhile I'm not going to force him to do something he doesn't want to do.
Optimus Prime & Bumblebee did fine finishing everything up. Actually, they were crazy into their schoolwork these past two weeks and we finished up ahead of schedule, giving them an extra day off each week. Handwriting was the same as always (translation, boring). We finished opposites in Spanish, and next quarter start off with numbers, which are really just the same pre-k numbers sheets they did in pre-k, only in Spanish. In other words, it's just practicing their handwriting. It says 1, but we just pronounce it uno. I'm dreading these sheets.. I'm dreading them so much I'm bitching about them before we've even started them. Moving on...
We finished up Africa in Science, and started Insects. They were thrilled to learn about bees and honey. Geography is still maps. I'm not complaining, they LOVE maps. I'm tired of doing maps, but I don't mind since they love it so much. We're done with coloring books in Art now (at least for next quarter), so they are happy. Sight Words & Reading Comprehension were the same as always. They've also both been dropped for next quarter. I have to slim down the schedule because of Speech Therapy, so Reading Comprehension is going to combine with English. Sight Words was a temporary thing for one quarter anyway, so no big deal.
Logic was nothing but word searches. I'm glad they are done. Two weeks of nothing but word searches, and I am burned out. And so are Optimus Prime & Bumblebee. The one good thing is that they were all easy, so it really helped them out. It gave them some confidence to realize that they can do them on their own & don't always need my help.
We finished off our Strawberry Shortcake addition book in Math. It was a bit above them in the end, but that's okay. We started a subtraction workbook from Target's dollar section, which they are crazy about because it has pictures of fish in it. Hey, whatever works! Some of it's easy, some not. They still really need pictures to help them with subtraction. They pretty much have everything for a 1st grade Math level down, except subtraction and counting by 5's. So I think we need to start really focusing on those two things.
English was all fun stuff these two weeks. Nothing but riddles, letter codes, alphabet dot-to-dots, etc. It was a nice break, and it goes on for a bit longer too, so I'm happy. Spelling was People Words & Days of the Week. Two nice, easy units.
Like I said, everything was pretty easy, so Optimus Prime & Bumblebee were really excited to get it done (and get some extra time off from school). Next week, pirates! Also, me catching up on all the blog posts I never got up...
